Capstone Foundation is a registered Society with the objective to promote education. One of the methods through which it seeks to achieve its objective of promoting learning is by use of technology. The Foundation uses innovative methods which include use of audio-visual methods, learning management platforms and interactive methods of learning to promote education.
It was founded by two alumni of National Law School of India University, Bangalore in 2013. The Foundation regularly engages volunteers, like-minded corporates and organizations who are interested in promoting the objective that the Foundation seeks to achieve.
The Foundation is run by professionals who are filled with the zeal to promote legal education across the country and they also understand the nuances of technology which gives them a unique skill-set to run a Society which seeks to revolutionize the manner in which legal education is imparted in India.
As a part of its ‘Legal Education for All’ program which was started in 2014, the Foundation prepares easy to understand course material which can be taught students in schools and colleges. The subjects include basics of Criminal Law, Right to Information Act, Basic Constitutional Law, and Human Rights etc. Volunteers visit schools and colleges to impart legal education to young learners. The Foundation also advocates introduction of a course on basics of law at the school level. Several representations to the Ministry of HRD, Central Board of Secondary Education, State Education Boards have been made for introduction of ‘Fundamental Laws’ as a part of mandatory school curriculum at Secondary and Senior Secondary level.
In order to promote industry relevant professional education to law students and young professionals, the Foundation started Capstone Education initiative in 2015. The courses were designed to ensure that after going study, learners are equipped with industry relevant knowledge and skills. In order to offer the courses, the Foundation tied up with Thinkific® to provide the Learning Management Platform. Fifty two college ambassadors were engaged in twenty three institutions to promote the courses among students.
The Foundation also runs Indian Journal of Contemporary Laws (ISSN: 2394-8256) whose patrons include leading academicians, judges and people from the corporate world. IJCL is a peer reviewed academic journal which has been in online publication for over five years. The Journal is edited by legal professionals who access the articles on the basis of their relevance in contemporary times. The Journal receives more than 500 entries each quarter out of which 12 are short-listed for publication.
